MVPs: Karl Malone, Utah; John Stockton, Utah
Utah Jazz teammates Karl Malone and John Stockton, for years as potent a one-two punch as any in the NBA, socked the East All-Stars with a blizzard of points, rebounds, and assists, earning co-Most Valuable Player honors in leading the West to a 135-132 overtime victory at the 43rd NBA All-Star Game at the sold-out Delta Center. It was the first time in NBA history that teammates shared the All-Star MVP Award.
Malone connected on 11-of-17 field-goal attempts, including 7 field goals on assists from Stockton, en route to leading the West with 28 points. Stockton tallied 15 assists and added 9 points, including 4 points and 2 assists in overtime.
David Robinson added 21 points and 10 rebounds for the West. The East forced an improbable overtime with the help of two of the game's biggest names, Michael Jordan (30 points) and Patrick Ewing (15 points, 10 rebounds), and 1993 Long Distance Shootout king Mark Price (19 points).
