1987 All-Star Game: West 154, East 149

Seattle, Washington
MVP: Tom Chambers, Seattle

Tom Chambers figured to be among the 34,275 spectators watching the All-Star Game at Seattle's Kingdome. But Houston's Ralph Sampson sustained a knee injury during the week before the game, and the 6-foot-10 SuperSonics forward was added to the West squad.

"Tommy Gun" made the game his showcase, scoring 34 points, 4 in overtime, to lead the West to a 154-149 victory over the East in the highest-scoring NBA All-Star Game ever. Chambers, the game's MVP, scored 10 points in just over 3 minutes late in the fourth quarter, and Dallas's Rolando Blackman hit a pair of free throws at the end of regulation time to force the extra period.

Philadelphia's Julius Erving scored 22 points in his farewell All-Star Game appearance. Houston's Hakeem Olajuwon became the first player to foul out of an All-Star Game since Rick Barry in 1978.
